Headlines about Lord Lucan and the murder of Sandra Rivett (Evening Standard, via Newspapers.com™)
On the night of November 7, 1974, Sandra Rivett was murdered at the London home of Veronica Duncan Bingham (Lady Lucan). Rivett was working as a nanny in the Lucan household after the acrimonious separation of Lady Lucan and her husband, Richard John Bingham (Lord Lucan).
Lady Lucan was also injured in the attack but survived, and she identified Lord Lucan as the killer.
However, after the murder, Lord Lucan vanished. Although there have been many alleged sightings since his disappearance, none of them could be proven.
An inquest jury named Lord Lucan as Rivett’s murderer in June 1975. He was declared legally dead in 1999.
