Man killed in wreck A 43-year-old DeSoto man was killed Monday after his car ran off the Elm Fork Trinity River Bridge (Highway 183), flew 260 feet i the air and landed nec. the riverbed riverbed below, police said. Kenneth Wayne Prather was pronounced dead at the wreck site by Dallas County Medicid Examiner's Office Field Agent Mike Ayers. Police said that Prather had multiple head and internal internal injuries. About 6:30 p.m., Prather was observed travelling at a high rate of speed eastbound near the bridge, police said. He apparently hit the median of the roadway and lost control, police said. The car swerved across three lanes and hit a steel guard rail on the shoulder of the road, Sgt. John Swinney said. Hie car was then propelled through the air> flying over tile service road, according according to police. The 1978 Thunderbird landed on its wheels about 40 feet below where it left the roadway, then rolled over before stopping on its top near the wrat bank of the Trinity River, Lt. Richard Bailey said. Monda}^s death was the fifth traffic fatality in Irving Irving this year. In other police news, a 21-year-old Oklahoma man remained in city jail today in connection with an investigation of criminal attempt at capital murder after his arrest Monday. Police said that about 3 a.m. Monday, the man was arrested on the roof of the Big Value Super Market in the Village Shopping Center. Capt.
