Billy Baker Baker DECATUR Billy B. Baker, 81, of Petersburg died Tuesday (March 21, 2000) in his home. Services will be 1 p.m. Friday in Hurley Funeral Home, Petersburg, Petersburg, with the Rev. Michael Guthrie and the Rev. Ed Millhouse officiating. officiating. Visitation Visitation will be one hour before services. services. Burial will be in Oakland Cemetery, Petersburg, with military rites by Menard County Interveterans Ceremony Unit. Memorials: New Salem Assembly of God Church of Petersburg or American Cancer Society. Mr. Baker was born in Shenandoah, Shenandoah, Iowa, on Dec. 23, 1918, the son of Guy O. and Merle Taylor Baker. He graduated from Friend (Nebraska) High School in 1937 and served in the Army in the South Pacific from 1941 to 1945. He was general manager of Springfield Clay Products Co., retired from state of Illinois, vice president of production of Springfield Springfield Plastics Co. and New Salem State Park and was a member of New Salem Assembly of God Church of Petersburg. He married Dorothy Clark on June 30, 1946. She preceded him in death on Aug. 28, 1971. He married Carol J. Forden on Oct. 7, 1972 in First Presbyterian Church, Petersburg. Surviving are his wife; son, Tim and wife Cindy of Decatur; stepchildren, Charles and wife Patty White of Oakford; Linley and wife Becki White of Sterling; Lora and husband John Tibbs of Petersburg; grandchildren, Tara Baker, Aaron Baker, Renee Baker, Alisa White, Kylea Tibbs and Kara Tibbs; sister, Iris Bietsch of Springfield. He was preceded in death by his parents, first wife and brother, Bob.
