Antonio M. Garcia Antonio M, Garcia, 72, of 1706 Crockett Drive West, died Feb. 20 at the Autumn Hills Nursing Home. Funeral services were Feb. 22. Mr. Garcia was born June 5, 1902, in Brownsville. He was retired employee of the Santa Fe Railroad. Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Diana Resendez of Galveston and Mrs, Maggie Manuel of La Marque; a son, Tony Garcia of Galveston; a brother, Ciro Garcia of Galveston; a sister, Mrs, Frank Donyo of Rio Grande City, Texas and six grandchildren. Abe Halfant Abe Halfant, 70, retired businessman and longtime Galveston resident, died at his residence at 5701 Leeland Feb. 21. ' 'w' Funeral services were Feb. '23. Mr. Halfant was born Dec. 15, 1904, in Russia. He had lived in—Galveston for years. He was a member of Congregation Beth Jacob and Eagles Aerie No. 48. Survivors include his widow, Mathilda Halfant of Galveston, two sons, Seymour Halfant and David Bernard Halfant, both of Galveston; three brothers, Jake Halfant of Galveston, Max Halfant of Houston and Manny Halfant of Sacramento, Calif.; two sisters, Mrs. Lassye Heffler of Houston and Mrs. Tina Anthony Anthony of Bryan, three grandchildren. grandchildren. ' Fred Payne 64 Fred E. Payne, 62, a La Marque fireman, died Feb. 21 at his residence at 2209 Palm, La Marque. Funeral services were Feb. 24. Mr. Payne was born Jan. 4, 1913, in London, England. A La Marque resident for 27 years, he was employed by the City of La Marque fire, department and was also a member of the volunteer fire department and an honorary, lifetime member of "the La Marque Police Auxiliary.
