We are aware that, in exposing this fraud, for fraud it is, we may be charged with sectional feeling in favor of Detroit, but we protest against this in advance. We have no idea it will sensibty diminish the business of the court which sits here, nor do we believe it was intended to. This judicial district was created to give an office to Judge Withes, and pension him off, so he would not interfere politically with some of the ambitious men in this part of the State, and for no other purpose whatever. Every 6tatement,made in the Senate as to its public necessity was untrue, and known to be so at the time by both of our Senators. We dare them to appeal to the records of the court to show the number of days and the liours in each day the court sits in a year the number of causes commenced and tried the time employed in disposing of them . the number of cases which have originated in the territory of the new district. We dare them to appeal to Judge Wilkins or any other officer of the court for a truthful statement on this subject. They will not, nay, more, they dare not, call for tie fact and have them laid before the Senate of the United Stales, lor tbey know too well that it will convict them of wilfully and intentionally deceiving their brother Senators, for the purpose of carrying out tneir owoiwuhlh Uins at the expense of the government.
