Arthur Payne, son of Walter Payne*, prominent, rarrfsh farmer, was terribly Injured in a car accl- de'nt late Sunday when a car in -which he was riding, driven by Dave De Wurt and owned by George Call< sen, struck loose sand near the bridge on County Trunk H south of tlje store, which threw the car, traveling 60 miles per hour, off the road toward the river, where It struck a large pifie stump. He was forced through the windshield, his throat beinfe cut so badly that he nearly bled to death and only missed the Juglar vein by a' hairs' breadth. His cheek was laid open to the rnonth, teeth jammed Into his gums. He was given first aid treatment at Fairish, then rushed to Merrill hospital. hospital.
