New Suicide E|pif^ils;.-; The ..second 'Hutchinson suicide ' attempt in two days came 'Thursday 'Thursday night when police said Mrs. Mary -Belle Heironimus, 73, 720 West Fourth, slashed her throat with a dull kitchen butcher knife. Although Mrs. Heironimus lost a lot of blood; the, knife did not strike an important artery in her 1 throat and her condition was not considered serious at Grace hospital hospital Friday. The night before, police said Mrs. Kenneth Raney, 30, 1307 East B, dragged herself across a bloody floor and telephoned officers after •he had'shot herself in'the chest with a .22 rifle. - , ' Mrs.' Raney. Is still in a serious condition at'Grace hospital. The bullet went through her chest into into her abdomen and cut several organs along the'way.' 'Mrs. Heironimus was found on the floor'of her bedroom by two daughters,. Mrs. Ora Elliott. and Mrs. Alva Marshall, after she had called, for help. Mrs. Heironimus had been in her bedroom since about 8:30 p.m. Others In the) •iouse -were in bed at the time Mrs. .Heironimus called. When found Mrs. Heironimus was * in her • nightgown lying on her side on the linoleum floor of the bedroom. Officers believed she was sitting on the floor at the time, of the suicide "attempt, Mrs. Heironimus' white hair and face were flecked with blood. Mr*. Marshall said the butcher knife with a 6% inch 'blade had been used in preparation of supper and had been put away. The family family believed that Mrs. Heironimus had not entered the kitchen between between the time the knife was .put away and the time the rest of the family went to bed. Mrs. Marshall' said her mother had .threatened ,to kill herself aev eral times before. Mrs. »Hcironi mus has been in ill health for months, officers ^ere informed.' Mrs. Marshall told officers Mrs. Heironimus has been in the Bar ton county home in Great -Benri but she came home several weeks ago and protested when the family family suggested that she be returned to the home.
