TEXAN GETS POSIES Russ Maids Greet Stringbean Pianist MOSCOW t!P) -- Van Cliburn, the Stringbean Texas pianist, returned from a concert road tour in Russia and got an armload of flowers Irom a group of Moscow maidens who .greeted him at the railroad station. He said he was bushed but happy and headed for bed. Cliburn looked thinner than when he left here his triumph at the' international piano competition. He enjoyed himself so on the trip, he said, he plans return here in August or September for a combination vacation-concert trip. . Of his last few days in the Soviet Union, he "They've been rough and tough but lots of fun. I so exhausted that sometimes on the trip I thought I die -- but it's a good way to die." He leaves Moscow for New York Thursday.. He will play a public concert here Wednesday and has a long recording session scheduled for today. Cliburn said he was warmly received everywhere he went in Russia. "They couldn't do enough for me," he said. "The trouble was they wanted to know everything about me about the United States." Asked how much rest he expected to get when he back at the end of summer, he hugged one of the girl musicians and said: "None at all. But when you have only one life as well burn it up." ^^____
