eight with New of schoolchildren's bank the fool this National Woman, Brother Are Convicted In Slaying Case MADISONVILLE (#·)--A Monroe Monroe County woman and her brother-law were convicted ol first degree murder Saturday -the shotgun slaying of the woman's husband. On recommendation of the trial jury, Judge Sue K. Hicks sentenced Mrs. Eula Gourley Bivens, 50, and Carra Bivens 48, to 99 years in the state prison. They were convicted of slaying of Mose Bivins, 65, at home in the Ball Play community community last Dec. 9. Defense attorneys immediately filed motion for a new trial Judge Hicks set Feb. 21 as for argument of the motion. The state accused Mrs. Bivens of firing the shotgun blast that killed her husband. She admitted the shooting, but claimed the gun fired accidentally. Carra Bivens, her co-defendant, co-defendant, had lived with his brother and sister-in-law for five years All 11 ol Mrs. Bivens' children took the witness stand during the three-day trial to testify against their mother and uncle
