Birth of the "Windy City" 1893 World's Fair (Columbian Exposition) origin myth for Chicago's nickname. Charles A. Dana of the New York Sun never coined it. Charles H. Dennis edited the Chicago Daily News, which essentially printed this origin story on May 20, 1904.
