J4.-- Three sentries at the Welland Ganal have* been fired upon by unknown persons, according: to reports received at the headquarters of the guard. A bullet passed close to the head of the corporal on duty at Lock 6 and three frien suspected of · implication in the shooting were chaaed. Sentries At Locks 4 and 8 also reported that they had been fired upon. An airship carrying a searchlight, they said, passed over the canal just before the shooting. CARDINAL FARLEY MOVED TO AMALFI FOR TREATMENT LONDON, Sept, 14.--A dispatch to the Daily Chronicle from Milan says that ; Cardinal Farley, who was taken seriously ill at Naples Saturday, when about to embark for New York, has been removed to Amalfl, on the Gulf of Salerno, a short distance southeast of Naples. The cardinal's condition is said to be such that he has been compelled to aban- ' don all idea of a speedy return to the United States. He is said to be suffering from heart trouble.
