J u n e 12.--Funeral were held at the Little Falls Sunday afternoon for James Shannan Ferrier, Civil war veteran and old settler of this section, who came to Lewis c o u n t y 56 years ago. Ferrier was born in Osage c o u n t November 14, 1839. During the war he served in the Eighth Missouri Cavalry. In 1872 he came west and for one year on Klickitat prairie; then he bought the homestead rights to a place j u s t one mile north Vader on the Olequa creek, moved his family here and made that his home ever since. He was one of first teachers in the little one-room schoolhouse at the original site of Little Falls one-half mile north of present t o w n of Vader. His wife many years ago and of a family eight children, three are dead. His immediate survivors are f o u r Otis and Logan of Vader, Leonard of Tacoma and Percy of Toledo; daughter, Mrs. Charles Parsons of Aberdeen; one brother, John Ferrier of Ryderwood; a sister, Mrs. Patsy Williams of Missouri, and 18 grandchildren. Funeral arrangements were in charge of the Cattermole Funeral Home of Winlock.
