David H. Werner World War I veteran David Henry Werner, 83, of 541 Highway 81 South, died June 8 at McKenna Memorial Hospital. Funeral services were held June 10 at the Zoeller Funeral Home, conducted conducted by Rev. J. Linwood Kennedy. Burial was in New Braunfels Cemetery. The life—long resident of the city was born Feb. 16,1897, to Carl and Minnie (nee Harms) Werner. He was preceded in death by his wife, the former Augusta Haas, whom he married July 29,1950, in New Braunfels. He was a retired heavy machinery operator, a member of First Protestant United Church of Christ, and a member of the Hermann Sons Lodge. He is survived by two stepdaughters, Mrs. Elmo (Viola) Jonas of Fischer, and Mrs. Robert (Nelda) Halm of New Braunfels; two sisters, Erna Braunschweig of San Antonio and Stella Ewald of New Braunfels; a brother, Ruben Werner of New Braunfels; seven stepgrand- children and 14 stepgreat—grandchildren.
