Jon Mineau, 39, 637 St. James Circle, told police he didn't see anyone anyone confront Monfils near a bubbler bubbler at the James River paper mill that morning, court documents filed Friday say. Mineau is expected to plead no contest to two noncriminal offenses, offenses, obstructing an officer and harassment, his lawyer, David Christian, said Friday. The James River mill fired Mineau before charges were filed. Mineau faces a maximum fine of $200 for the obstruction offense, $1,000 for harassment. His first court date is Jan. 4. Action against Mineau had to be taken because "we felt that the information that was being withheld withheld was very significant to the out come of the case," Brown County District Attorney John Zakowski said Friday. Six men now are serving life sentences sentences after being convicted of homicide in Monfils' death Nov. 21, 1992. His beaten body was found in a pulp vat the day after Keith Kutska and others confronted him about his telling police Kutska planned to steal an extension cord from the mill. Court documents say: Mineau stopped by the house of co-worker co-worker co-worker Don Boulanger and said he and a "group of guys" were near a bubbler with Monfils but he "didn't do anything." While golfing with the James River golf league in July 1993, Mineau said he saw homicide defendant defendant Mike Hirn push Monfils, and told co- co- worker Al DeBauche he'd told police about it. But on May 19, 1995, Mineau confronted confronted DeBauche about DeBauche repeating that to police. Mineau said, "Why would I tell you about something I didn't see?" and "You know you're ing with my job and family." Brian Kellner has told police that Kutska told him in July 1994 that Mineau and others confronted Monfils near the bubbler but Mineau got called away to do a paper roll change.
