St. IgnaCe Assessor-Treasurer Resigns Job After Three Weeks ST. IGNACE — Donald J. Goudreau, newly-appointed assessor-treasurer of St. Ignace announced his resignation in a letter sent to city manager Steohen Walters. The St. Ignace City Council acknowledged the letter in their meeting Monday, but there was no discussion of a replacement as of yet. Goudreau had been on the job for about three weeks, and gave no definite reason, for resigning. The Council adopted an Animal Control ordinance to regulate the existence, ownership, ownership, use and treatment of dogs, cats and other animals in the city for the purpose of protecting the health and safety of the citizens, to establish the office of animal control officer within the city police department and to provide a penalty for violations. Representatives from 1CAP (Indian Community Action Program) attended the meeting and requested the city to adopt an ordinance to prohibit the exhibition of human bones in any manner and in any place. The city attorney is working on a draft of the ordinance. In other action, the City Council approved the purchase of a dump truck, a flat-bed truck and a replacement engine for a backhoe. Bids for surplus city equipment were reported at the meeting also. A design was considered for the Marina project, but no action action was taken. Status reports were given by committees on the sewage treatment lagoon system, the sub-division control ordinance and the proposed burning ordinance. All will be reported on at the Sept. 5 meeting. Other possibilities of ways to correct the Keightly St. sewer problem were discussed, and will be looked into before the next meeting. The proposed Street Excavation Excavation ordinance was referred to the next meeting also to allow time for further study. To Open Bids For Area Bids will be opened Sept. 6 on
