v (.nil lo Index lo Republic News The initial ASU Index to The Arizona Republic will be presented Saturday night to the Arizona State Library Association Association at a Kino Room banquet in the TowneHouse! Making the presentation of the first index guide to Arizona news will be Mrs. Elaine Riker, head librarian at The Arizona Arizona Republic, and Dr. Alan Covey, head librarian at Arizona State University. Winston R. Henderson, president, will accept the index on behalf of the association. Guest speaker at the 7 p.m. banquet will be Mary Gaver, president of the American Library Association, who will speak on "Libraries 1977—in the Wings or Center Stage?" SOME 250 libraries throughout the state will receive copies of the index, compliments of The Arizona Republic. This "master key to Arizona news" covers the period from January January through June of 1966. Subsequent volumes will appear every six months. The guide has been prepared by Kathryn Arnhold, assistant assistant in special collections service at the ASU library. Gertrude Gertrude H. Muir, special collections librarian, was in charge of editing. The index contains more than 20.000 subject and personal name entries and should prove invaluable lo researchers.
