Glendale Boy Given Missing Father's Medal Transcription by PacificWrecks.com
WASHINGTON, March 25. (AP) A 16-year-old boy, Kenneth N. Walker, Jr. of Glendale, Calif., received from President Roosevelt today a Congressional Medal of Honor, awarded his father who has been missing in action since Jan. 5 [1943] when he led a bombing attack on Japanese shipping at Rabaul, New Britain.
Brigadier General Walker, a native of Cerrillos, N.M., was cited for "conspicuous leadership" and "personal valor and intrepidity at an extreme hazard to life."
