NEWS OF NEIGHBORS, VISITS AND HAPPENINGS IN KATY THE TIMES — Hometown Mr. and Mrs. Harold Andrew were in Dallas last week attending the Farm Bureau Convention. Their four children were guests in the home of the Gene Andrews' while they were gone. Mr. and Mrs. Gene Andrew were deer hunting in Columbus last Saturday and Sunday. Mrs. B. F. Metzger and Mrs. Floyd Beckendorff motored to Lake Charles, Louisiana last Wednesday. They brought back with them Mrs. Harris, mother of Mrs. Metzger. She will be visiting the M e t z g e r s over the Thanksgiving holidays. Glenn Beckendorff was hunting last weekend at Ridge, Texas. He came came back with a 7 point deer. Congratulations! Little Marian Fly celebrated her fourth birth- dav last Friday with ice cream and cake. Besides her family, those helping her celebrate included the Floyd Beckendorff & the Bobby Flys. Pvt. Earl Morgan is home on ten day leave from Ft. Polk, Louisiana. He is visiting his mother, Mrs. Cora Morgan, and his many friends. Lynn Peek got a 6 point buck the first of the season. Hunting with him were his dad, Calvin Peek, Jerome Peek, A. J. Peek, Donald Meier and Randy Carpenter. Some of the others got shots and missed, and one just froze when a big buck came close by & couldn't shoot. Rev. Dick Jenkins is home recovering from surgery. He plans to go back to the hospital for treatment after Thanksgiving. His address is 7807 Clarewood, Houston 7703G. Randall Simpson and son, Stewart were deer hunting at Magnolia last weekend and Stewart bagged a 5 pointer. Willis Hicks took his son, Jimmy, deer hunting over the weekend. They saw two deer at their pasture near Hempstead. Mrs. Jessie Biggerstaff of Houston visited Mrs. Nell Arnold and the Jeff Arnold family over the weekend. She came especially to see and hear the Katy Band in which Leonard Arnold is a member. N. R. Ellington is doing fine at home now, following eye surgery. Vickie Greene is home from the hospital recovering from surgery. Good to see Herschel Poorman, Sr. out and about town some. Mrs. John Bloomfield is employed as church secretary at the Katy First Baptist Church. Joe -Zubik spent the weekend with cousins in Needville and came to I Katy to see friends Saturday morning. He looks good and is anxious to complete his treatments at the hospital at Galveston. tinsky's family plan to be with him for Thanksgiving. Mahlon and Mary Ann Swogetinsky and children Steve and Mary Lou will come from Laurel, Miss; Patsy will come from Galveston; Dorothy and Allen Collins from El Campo; Carolyn and Curt Roorda from Waco; Myra and Bob Millard and boys, Mike and Richard from Nassau Bay, Houston; plus the Katy residents, Betty Swogetinsky, Lawrence & Erna Swogetin- sky and family, Mark, Linda and Julie. Happy Thanksgiving to you all. Julie Swogetinsky has been at home on the sick list for the past three weeks. Mrs. James Chandler has been home from the hospital for 10 days and is doing fine. Mr. and Mrs. P e r r y Robertson, Rocky and Bruce spent the weekend in Kerrville deer hunting. Mr. and Mrs. Tommy Joe Conlan of Denton will spend Thanksgiving weekend with her parents, the Perry Robert- sons. Mr. & Mrs. Sid Creech
