MORNING, APRIL 17, Louise Wyoming Woman Succumbs At 99 GLEN FORK (RNS) -- Funeral Funeral services for Mrs. Etta Shumate, 99, one of Wyoming County's oldest residents, will be conducted at 11 a.m. Sunday in the Russell Baptist Church at Glen Fork. Burial will be the Pine Grove Cemetery. Mrs. Shumate, in ill health for several months, died at 11:15 p. m. Thursday at her home at Glen Fork. She had been confined to a chair since breaking her hip eight years ago and had suffered two strokes during the past several months. Mrs. Shumate, who lived at her home since she was three years old, married Diamond Shumate at 18 and continued live in the homeplace where they reared 12 children. Born in 1866 at Craney, she was a daughter of the late Russell and Lindy Brooks Cook. Mrs, Shumate was the oldesl member of the Pine Grove Baptist Church at Ravencliff. Her husband preceded her in death in January, 1956 at the age of 96. Survivors include seven sons, meet- Grover, Salem, Va., John, Ma-j theny. Harper, Huntington, Bry-j ant, Ball, Ott and Finley, all Glen Fork; a daughter, Mrs. Clate (Hattie) Brooks, Sabine; and MrÂ£ B ant shumate lived in the home with by Shumate. The body is at Evans Funeral Funeral Home in Oceana.
