Lawrence Shows Open On Monday Large Number Attend The Opening Of Mid- Summer Festival. . Magerstown's mid-summer festival opened last night at Willow Lane circus grounds with more than fifty midway attractions, including 10 major riding devices and ten sensational shows. Hundreds of persons already were milling about the lot when the show opened and clamored for an opportunity to ride the huge ferris wheels for an aerial view of Hagerstown. Included among the many attractions is the famous Captain Smithy and his troupe of monkeys. His star performer, a huge chimpanzee, Princess, does everything for the captain except talk. Her comical antics are understandable. Children from all sections have been busy since late Sunday afternoon attempting to make friends with the comical little fellows and Captain Smithy stages many special shows for the kiddies. As a free attraction the famous team of Billetti perform nightly high in the sky by riding their bi cycles on a tight rope. This is the only act of its kind on the road
