She either committed suicide or became overbalanced and fell into the water when she went to the barrel for purposes, officials said. There was nothing to indicate she was preparing to secure a bucket of water. The hard rain Monday had filled the barrel. When Mrs. Hook was moved the barrel was about three fourths full. Mrs. Hook was not in health and so far as known had no threat to end her life. Her husband, William Hook, 1 janitor at the Worden City Hall. arose at 4-30 o'clock this morninf to go to the building to start fire and make other arrangements fo election officials who would use th building to receive votes of Wordei citizens. Mrs. Hook was still in bed when left. He said he would return about o'clock. Her maiden name was Miss Carl i e Hook. She was mairiecl about years ago. One daughter, Mary, when 9 years of age. Mrs. Kate Schmellor, Alton, is a sister. Mrs. Hook was a member of the Worden Lutheran Church and also member of the Lutheran Ladies Aid Society. s n
