a in of to request ot on. v Lester M. Colby to Speak The ordinance for the prospect street sidewalk district was read and adopted. City Attorney Manning was instructed instructed to write to one ot the heads of tho Big Four railroad to request the Immediate installation of a crossing at the Big Four tracks on Ferguson avenue, as It was believed that the railroad sought to delay the matter. Alderman Schnauter said he wanted a sidewalk for pedestrians also. Alderman Schnaufer. reported that he had $100 In hand contributed by a local lumber yard for sidewalk Im provement In tho Mclntosh addition. It was announced that Lester B. Colby of Springfield, a newspaper writer, and representative ot the Illinois Illinois Chamber of Commerce, would be In Wood, River Thursday and would speak at a banquet at the American Legion hall at 6:30 unfer the auspices of the Wood River business' men. An Invitation was extended to the mayor and members ot the council to attend. A new light was voted to be placed at Ninth and Hawthorne street.- The matter of requesting Purple Swan, Blue Goose and C. & A. busses to use Lorena avenue from Wood River to Haller Instead of causing traffic congestion on Ferguson avenue avenue was discussed, but no action was taken other than to have It ascertained ascertained if the bus companies would agree to make the change In route on request. 7
