Managing only two wins during the first 12 days of action O'Brien finished second in two more efforts Tuesday. Abbe in the class C pace O'BRIEN HAS TROUBLES GAINING HARNESS WIN which was the fifth race and the odds-on choice ef the crowd of 7,312 with Jerry Baier's Selka's King in the featured $2500 Palos Verdes Purse. O'Brien was narrowly beaten in the headline event, a mile and a sixteenth pace for class A racers, by Ima Hanover' Dale, who was skillfully driven by Wilbur Long. Ima Hanover Dale held a nose verdict at the wire, barely lasting over the favorite in 2.10 45.
