STRIKE AT MOTOR WORKS. Employes of Matheson Automobile Co. Allege Discrimination. Because of alleged discrimination bv xne management of the . company against union men, three hundred employes of the Matheson Motor works at wllkes - Barre, went out on strike yesterday afternoon. Fourteen men were discharged Thursday. It is alleg ed, without a given reason by the company. Thase men were a:I members of ' the Machinists' union. It Is the general opinion of the men who went out on strike that the fourteen men wr discharged becaure of their member - snip in the. union, Business Agent John E. Gallbran. of the machinists, whose office Is In this city, left for the works early yesterday morning. In in Interview he said that the superintendent of the works refused to meet a committee represent ing tne union or give them any satisfaction. H claimed tnat the other employes went on strike because they thought their associates were discriminated against. Secretary Matheson claims that the men were dismissed becrise they were not desirable.
