Gurney Gwaltney Rash son of John Martin and Lucinda Cass Rash Death
G. G. RASH Rash, 61, Succumbs Gurney Gwaltney Rash, 61, Jennings Store Community, route 1, Olin, was pronounced dead on arrival at Iredell Memorial Hospital at 10 a.m. Friday. Death was attributed to a heart attack. He was born in Iredell County on April 22, 1909, a son of the late John Martin and Lucinda Cass Rash. Mr. Rash was employed in the shipping department of Kewaunee Kewaunee Technical Furniture Co. and was a part-time farmer. On Sept. 23,1933, he was married married to the former Eunice Henderson, who survives. Also surviving are six daughters, Mrs. Clyde Lippard, route 8, Statesville, Miss Lavon Rash of the home, Mrs. Edward Shumaker, Shumaker, route 5, Statesville, Miss Lois Rash of the home, Miss Glenda Rash, a student at Appalachian State University in Boone, and Miss Louise Rash of the home; five sons, J. B. Rash, route 5, Statesville, B. Harold Rash, route 8, Statesville, Allen R. Rash of Union Grove, J. Franklin Rash and D. Lynn Rash, both of the home; three brothers, Mack L. Rash, route 6, Statesville, Charlie C. Rash of Union Grove, and Ben H. Rash of Rogers, Ala.; one sister, Mrs. Pearl Cass of Union Grove; and nine grandchildren. Funeral services are slated at 3 p.m. Sunday at Grassy Knob Baptist Church with Rev. Paul E. Crater officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The body will remain at Reavis Reavis Funeral Home in Harmony before being taken to the church to lie in state 30 minutes prior to the funeral hour. The family will receive friends tonight from 7-9 o'clock at the funeral home. Pallbearers will be Horace Cass, Craten Cass, Raeford Rash, Edward Crater, Mitchell Rash, James Jordan, Jerry Henderson and Wesley Millsaps. Millsaps.
