Fireman Hurt As Truck Hits 1 I i in On 1st Run A probationary fireman on run to his first fire was neriously injured Thursday when he fell beneath i fire truck backing up to i hydrant near a Westside apartment house. Ralph Thompson, 25 years eld, 1220 Blaine Street, was taken to Marion County General Hospital with broken ribs ind internal injuries. Fire Chief Arnold W. Phillips said the wheels of the heavy truck did not pass over Thompson's body but that they did touch him hard enough to cause injury. The accident occured at 7:40 a.m. when firemen from Station 19 arrived at 802 Marion Street to put out a small blaze in the four-apart ment building. Chauffeur Russell Pace, 4S. 4141 Lafayette Road, who was driving the truck, stopped the vehicle when ottier firemen on the truck yelled at him.
