"B" newly The Evening lorfsrnan By ROY SWANK Outdoor Editor Oklahoma usually reminds Its dove hunters about this time each year of the things not to do,'such as shooting from roads and hunt- ng from automobiles. But this year the reminder was turned around and the state released a ist of "do's" for dove hunters. They apply just as well in this state. The list follows: (1) Ask landowner's landowner's permission to hunt. .(2) Vlake sure your gun will hold only three shells. (3) Find every dead or wounded bird possible. (4) Be careful with matches and smoking materials. (5) Handle your gun safely. (6) Know the game laws and obey them. One speckled trout that ended up in the frying pan yesterday just hadn't bothered with learning its table manners. A relative fishing fishing with this writer spotted it and I managed to haul it out with a dip net. The trout, which weighed in at six pounds, was swimming calmly nround in barely knee-deep water- along the King Ranch shore about II miles below Red's Place on the Laguna Madre. It had eaten so much--or literally was too full to move--that it was scooped up in the net with little fight. Its trouble was obvious. Sticking Sticking in its throat was the tail of a fish. The big trout had Wed to eat a fish too big to swallow. Fishing around the area was good again yesterday, but not as good as earlier in the weekend. Port Aransas enjoyed some all- around good luck, though. Fisherman's Wharf had the B. C. Brown party of Mathis with 17 mackerel, Shep- Sharlock and party caught 20 mackerel and Dr. R. ,1. Harice credited with 95 mackerel anc Bill Read of Corpus Christi hac 35 mackerel. W. H. McSwain caught three kings, .while John Wright had eight kings and S. Gillespie brought in IS mackerel 12 bluefish and one king. Delmar listed Dr. C. C. Shat with 78 mackerel; John Killougl with 42 specks and II. F. Schoo with 28 trout.
