Nov. 22 — Harry’s Super Service basketball squad will open their 1939-40 season here on Saturday evening in the Mather high school gymnasium when they meet the Munising CYO five and the Grain! Marais Independents. Independents. The Harry's crew last year played under the name of Lew's Store and won 21 games out of 22 in regular play during the season. They placed third in the independent tournament held here in the spring. Practices for the quintet have been held on Saturday evenings in the high school gym, and Frank Fleming, manager of the team, stated that they were displaying a great deal of skill in their practice practice tilts. Members of this year’s squad selected so far are: Cluen Malone, Louis Gamelin, II. Oien, Romeo Perron, Warren Wendt, and Fleming. Oien is a newcomer to the squad and was a member of the Gwinn high school squad and played intra-mural ball at Michigan State college. Perron is a former member of the Iron Mountain Oshkosh Beers and of the Iron Mountain high school five. The Harry's crew will lack the services of "Bob” Villemure, coach at the Mather high school, and Harold Anderson, who has enrolled at the Northern State Teachers college. Marquette, this season. .
