Drunk Car Driver Forfeits $120.00 Chester Brooks Fails to Appear in Municipal Court on Charge Chester Brooks forfeited a SI 20 cash bond in municipal court Monday on a charge of drivng an automobile while drunk. His case was one of 22 heard before Judge W. K. Lemley who faced a two-week docket. The ca.se of Steve Atkins, charged with assault and battery for an alleged alleged attack on George Lolis. negro, at the Checkered cafe at 4 a. m. Sunday, was continued until Tuesday, February 1. The negro was hit by the top of a sugar bowl, requiring eight stitches to close wounds on the nead and mouth. The negro, employed'o> the cafe, was unable to return to work Monday. Seven defendants were convicted on charges of drunkenness. M. E. Allen. Jeff Aaron. W. H. Ratliff, Ernest Bennett. Bennett. Will Garland each pleaded guilty and each was fined ?10. Marvin Patten pleaded guilty u> assault assault and battery upon Ulyn Crews and was fined $2.50. Dale Bryant, disturbing the peace, fined $2.50.
