FORTY YEARS AGO Gothard Llndgren accepted a position in Chas. R. Allen's clothing store «t Alcester. A ten-pound son was born Aug. 25th to Mr. and Mrs. Henry Luschen of Chatsworth. Prof. B. T. Green of Hawarden was elected grand secretary at the annual meeting of the Good Templars grand lodge. Miss Bessie Fosgate and A. D. t)is- brow were married Aug. ZWn at the home of J. W. Brunskill, south of Hawarden. John Finnic was enjoying a visit from his mother and sister from Canada and another sister from North JDakota. J. W. Welch was moving his carpet loom into one of the rooms in the brick block on the North Side and was preparing to open for business. The democrats of Logan township met Aug. 25th to elect delegates to attend the county convention at Orange City. D. K. Bennett, Herman Kentrich, C. M. Fleshman, Peter Weidenfeller and P. C. Gehan were named. Wm. Willison, a resident of th North Side, was found dead in his bee .he morning of Aug. 30th. He was a bachelor and lived alone in the olc postoffice building. Parties passing the place detected an offensive odor anc upon investigation found the body. Th :oroner was called and it was discovered that he had been dead for severa ays, dying from natural causes!
