BPW Here in 1944 The Greensburg chapter of the Business and Professional Women's Women's Club, Inc., comprised of working women in this community, community, has functioned since 1944 and made many contributions to mblicly supported institutions ind charitable drives, as well as iroviding for enlightenment and jersonal betterment of members hrough educational programs. A dinner meeting is held the first Thursday of each month and a business session, the third Thursday. In addition to local projects, the Greensburg B. P. W. 21ub has actively supported and jarticipated in state and national national programs of the federation, which embraces approximately 3,400 clubs and 175,000 members ihroughout the United States. Local membership has grown from 16 to about 100. Members are engaged in various business occupations and professions. The club was instituted Nov. 30, 1944 with the Shelbyvffle chapter as sponsor and was presented presented with its charter at a banquet banquet Feb. 22, 1945. The first officers were: Miss 21sie Harwood, president; Mrs Fannie Nordmeyer, vice president; president; Mrs. Margaret Myers, recording recording secretary; Miss Altha Clerkin, corresponding secretary; secretary; and Mrs. Howard Aldridge treasurer. The other 11 charter members were: Mrs. Fern McCrackea Mrs. Cecil Gannon, Miss Marian Hedrick, Miss Frieda Schatz Miss Louise Craig, Mrs. Wilma Hiatt, Miss Rose Rankin, Miss Helen Braden, Miss Alberta Mar shall, Mrs. Bess LaBarbara and Mrs. Alice Tichenor.
