a OBSERVED 63RD ANNIVERSARY HAWARDEN COUPLE ROUND OUT 63 YEARS TOGETHER Mr. and Mrs. Jacob Shuck Were Both Born in Iowa and Have Lived in This Community Many Years Mr. and Mrs. Jacob Shuck, residents of this community for 46 years, observed observed their 63rd wedding anniversary last Thursday. Mrs. Shuck has been in poor health the past summer so they had planned to spend the day quietly but their friends in the Methodist church had other plans and during the afternoon and evening thirty-one called called on Mr. and Mrs. Shuck to extend congratulations and best wishes. The honored couple was presented with a beautiful bouquet of flowers in honor of the occasion by their friends. Three years ago in honor of their 60th wedding wedding anniversary a big family gathering gathering was held at their home which was attended by all their children. Both Mr. and Mrs. Shuck were born near Davenport so that they have known each other since childhood. Mr. Shuck is 86 years of age while his wife has attained the age of 81. When a young man Mr. Shuck floated a raft on the Mississippi river. Mr. and Mrs. Shuck continued to make their home at Davenport for some years after their marriage but in 1885 they came west and located on a farm in Union county near Alcester. In 1904 they retired retired from active life and moved to Alcester Alcester where they lived until 1918 when they purchased a home in Hawarden Hawarden and since that time have made their home in this city. Ten children children were born to Mr. and Mrs. Shuck, two of whom have preceded them in death. One child died in infancy and Mrs. S. S. Stewart passed away in March, 1930. Shuck of Alcester and Carl Shuck of Hawarden. There are 65 grandchildren and Mrs. Shuck has lost count of the number of great grandchildren but they must number at least thirty.
