"Now maybe I can enjoy a good night's sleep." McGee first was sentenced to hang May 10. Governor Park granted a stay to May 31 after Miss McElroy visited the governor and pleaded for McGee's life "for my pwn peace of mind." The heavy-browed McGee, who led three companions in kidnaping Miss McElroy May 27, 1933 and holding her chained to a dungeon-like basement basement wall for 29 hours, was slouched in his death cell at Kansas Citl ywhen the news was carried to him today. "The governor couldn't have given me a better birthday present," he shouted. McGee will be 30 years old tomor- ,row. Relating her experiences after the kidnaping, the comely victim said that "at no timo did I expect to be rfcturned alive. It appeared the best thing to hope for was quick death."
