Sgt. Charles M. iPete) Petrovich, Petrovich, who led the nine-man team in the mission, said that credit cards and personal effects found in the wreckage confirm the identification identification of the Bechtel family. The wreckage was on the finger of a ridge running out from Day Canyon. Donald S. iBud' Mauldi, another another member of the team, said the wreckage was about 500 feet tfown from the top of the ridge. Petrovich said there was evidence evidence that the plane had hit higher higher on the ledge and recently slid to its present position. After salvaging everything possible possible and photographing t h c wreckage, the plane was broken apart and dropped down into the canyon so as not to be seen by air rescue teams in future search operations. The remains were turned over to the office of Coroner R. E. Williams.
