C. P. Nettleton's 50th Wedding Anniversary
Mr. and Mrs. C. P. Nettleton, of Lancaster, Have Golden Wedding Today the golden weddln* n.inl- n.inl- vermry-of vermry-of vermry-of Mr. and Mrs. O. p. Nettleton is oeng celebrated at the Nettleton home' near Lancaster, with their chlldmi and grandchildren, Mr. and Mrs, Nettleton are celebrating the occasion occasion of their 50 years of married life. A reception for their friends Is being held this afternoon, Mr. and Mrs. Nettleton were married married 50 years ago New Year's Eve at U13 Otis House in Atchison. The Oils House was located where the Byram hotel is now. Judge J. J. Looker of the probate court of Atchison countv performed the ceremony. Mrs. Nettleton before her marriage aas Miss Fannie CBrter. daughter of Mr. and Mrs. w. O. Carter, pioneer settlers In Atchison county, who lived In the neighborhood or shannon.- shannon.- Sho was born In Atchison county In 1802 and lias spent practically all her life In the county. She has hundreds ol friends in Atchison county she made from childhood and on through the years of her life. C. V. Nettleton was boni lti Ocaug.t county. Ohio, In 1B54. a son of Mr. and Mrs. Oliver Nettleton. He came to Kansas In the fall ol 1877 and went direct to Uie farm Mr. and Mrs. Njt-tleton Njt-tleton Njt-tleton now live on near Lancaster. A small house was erected on' the. farm, which is 150 acres ol the best land In Atchison county, ihc following spring. Immediately after their marriacc, Mr. and Mrs. Nettleton moved to tills farm and lurvc lived there ever since with the exception of one season they spent farming In Colorado. Oulsldc uf farming, Mr. Nettleton worked for the Missouri Pacific railroad as station station agent and telegrapher at Lan- Lan- caster. He held this position lor five years. He was a telegrapher when a young man in Ohio and Is still greatly interested in the advance the wireless has made In the last 60 years. Nine children were bom to Mr. and Mrs. Nettleton and all arc living ex cent Robert Nettleton, who died in France during the World War. It will bo remembered by many readers of Tho Globe that Mrs. Nettleton was tho only Gold Star Mother to make the pilgrimage to France this summer to the grave of Her son at the Mcuse-Argonne Mcuse-Argonne Mcuse-Argonne cemetery from- from- Atchison county. Mr. and Mrs. Ncttletnn's eight living children and their famillrs are helping celebrate the occasion ot their golden wedding anniversary today. They are: Mrs. Cora Flattre ot Lancaster: Bill Nettleton, who is here from Houston, Tex.; Oliver NelMclou, who 13 at home; Mrs. Qladys nosers, 514 Spriuj strc:t; Mrs. Edna Lange, 1026 Parallel street; Dan Nettleton of Long neacli, Calif.; Mrs. Charlotte Clem of /.tcliison. and Mrs. Harel Itlley of Lancaster. There arc also eight grandchildren helping Mr. and Mrs. NettlMon celebrate. Mr. and Mrs. Nettleton nse ' well known and respected residents of Atchison Atchison county. Their many years spent In the Lancaster neighborhood have won them many friends to whom they arcarc beloved. They reared splendid children, who now have fine families nnd are making the day one of tlie happiest in the lives of Mr. and Mis. Nettleton. Hundreds of friends or the Neltletons are expsclcd to call at their home near Lancaster today.
