* * Rare Jewelry Is Sold. Crowds of holiday buyers are attending the auction sale of jewelry now being held in the palatial show room of the Wiekershain Company at the corner of I and I Dili street. (I. W. Wickersham is retiring from business in this city owing to his failing health. His store is one of the show places of the city and the $75,000 stock that is being sold to the highest bidder, embraces the finest and rarest jewelry to be found any place in the valley. Bakersfield society ladies are attending the sales in the afternoon and again at night in throngs that tax the capacity of the salesroom. t The sale is under the direction of James L. Hand and Company of New York City. This well known firm sell goods for the leading jewelry houses all over the continent. The Wickersham sale is being handled as artistically as a public reception possibly could be, by Kelloy & Faussett, tho master auctioneers, who are conducting the sale. They know how to entertain tho crowds that daily attend the sale and move the goods in a rapid fire way that is pleasing and inspiring. Messrs. Kelley and Faussett in speaking of the auction of the Wickersham Company said: "The Wickersham Company's stock is very well known in the west. The increasing attendance at each session of the sale, proves the appreciation of the public of the importance of this auction, and the growing sales shows that the wonderful values we are giving in precious jewelry is simply irresistible to the people. "Tlie people of Bakersfield may not have another opportunity to buy goods of this class and character at auction during their life-time for this stock is magnificent, and embraces all the newest goods that people of refinement and culture demand.
