Family Of 5 Kidnaped By Armed Robber Lebanon Group Is Released After Being: Forced To Drive Bandit All Night; Suspect Is Arrested. LEBANON, Ind. <*—A shotgun at their necks, a terrified family of five was taken on an erratic ride through three central Indiana counties Monday night by a robber who warned: “I need money and I don’t care who I kill to get it.” John Redman, 23, Lebanon, taken to a Lebanon hospital with a head wound caused when he was hit with the shotgun, identified Alfred Heck, 33, Carmel, a the robber. James A. Hawkins, town marshal marshal at Williams Creek, arrested Heck at his home a short while after the incident and took Heck to the hospital, where he was identified identified by Redman. Redman told officers he was slugged when the holdup man entered his filling station on U.S. 52, south of Lebanon, as he was closing for the night. The robber took $150 from the cash drawer, turned out the lights, and forced Redman to accompany him into a back room. The filling station operator’s wife, Mrs. Mary Lou Redman, 25, and their children, Steve, 5; Mike, 3, and Douglas, 2, drove up moments later to take Redman home. As Mrs. Redman entered the station, the robber turned on the lights and pressed the shotgun against Redman’s back. He ordered the family into Redman’s Redman’s car—Redman at the wheel and Mrs. Redman and the two smaller children in the front seat beside him. The robber, seated in the rear with the older boy, kept the shotgun shotgun pointed at Redman. “I need the money much worse than you do and I don’t care w’ho I kill to get it,” Redman quoted him as saying. “All of you be good and you’ll be all right.” Redman was forced to drive for an hour and a half through Zionsville, Zionsville, then back to Lebanon through several alleys. Near Carmel, the man got out of the car and said: “I know it won’t do any good to tell you not to report this, but don’t report it #or a while yet. But remember, I told you no one would get hurt and I kept my promise.”
