New commander takes over Air Force Inspection, Safety Center at Norton SAN BERNARDINO Maj. Gen. Gerald Larson has assumed command command of the Air Force Inspection and Safety Center at Norton Air Force Base here. He replaced Maj. Gen Harry Falls Jr., who has been assigned to the Pentagon in Washington, D.C., as the deputy inspector general of the Air Force. Larson was last assigned at Pease Air Force Base, N.J. He was the commander of the 45th Air Division, the Strategic Air Com mand's largest flying division. He is a command pilot with more than 5,600 flying hours and 541 combat missions. He served as demonstration pilot in 19(50 with the Thunderbirds. f. He was commander of the 20th Tactical Fighter Wing at Royal Air Force Upper Heyford, England, in 1977 and was later inspector general general for the United States Air Force in Europe at Ramstein, Germany. He was named the assistant deputy chief of staff there for operations and intelligence before being assigned assigned to Pease Air Force Base in 1980. His military decorations and awards include the Silver Star, Distinguished Distinguished Flying Cross with three oak leaf clusters, Meritorious Service Service Medal Air Medal with 25 oak leaf clusters and the Air Force Commendation Medal with two oak leaf clusters. He and his wife, Joyce, have two daughters, Josclyn and Julie. ,
