I will always miss that old town and my many friends there, I suppose I guess you didn't kno'w that I am now studying journalism at the Uinversity of Houston. I transferred here from NTAC in Arlington, after I finished there. Enclosed is a story that I wrote ign as an assignment in one of my j journalism classes. Maybe you. can find room for it, or perhaps you can use some of the information. I will probably get to see you all and little old San Saba sometime this summer. had daughter ! University of , Houston . s youth ! makes her one of the South's lesast known schools, .'but she iwill bask in collegiate limelight again this year with her fiesta. The fiesta of last year gained publicity in college circles as something new in campus capers. This year's celebration -will last four days beginning- April 21 The beard contest, hdwever, will start February 24th in order to give the students time to have an authentic frontier look by fiesta time. Under the direction of students Hill Sparr, chairman of the fiesta and vice chairman Han-ell Brown various concessions .will 'be constructed on the campus representing everything from Judge Roy Bean's court to the village blacksmith shop. A former San Saba, Walter W. Lindsey, son of Mr. and Mrs. W. G. Lindsye, Koute 2, is attending the University of .Houston under the GI Bill educational program. He is studying journalism and is in his third year of school. The university was founded in 1934, but since that time it has grown to be one of the largest in the .South, with an enrollment this semester of nearly ,10,000 students over all. It is located in the southeastern section of fast- growing Houston and is under the protecting financial wing- of that rity's millionaire oil man. H. R. Cullen. as
