Oxnard National Guardsmen Head for Camp Roberts Sunday National guardsmen from Battery A of the 225th Armored Field Artillery Battalion will shove off. from their headquarters on South K street he-fore dawn Sunday for a two-week training session at Camp Roberts. Sixty-three guardsmen, truck, trailers and jeeps will he on their way at 4:30 a.m. to join other units of the 40lh armored division. The battery's two 155mm howitzers have already heen shipped up to Camp Roberts. The battery will pass an inspection point at Montalvo, and then join Battery B from Ventura. Other units in the battalion include headquarters and serv ice batteries from Santa Bar-i bara and another firing battery from Santa Maria. Lt. Albert W. Miller will be in command of Battery A. Lt. Col. Eklon H. Haskell is battalion commander. Troops from Battery A will report' to the K street armory Saturday to prepare for the trip. Start Saturday Major Kenneth P. Narigon, division, transportation officer, said highway movements of troops will start early Saturday from as far south as the Imperial Valley. Convoys of military vehicles and chartered buses will use Highways 90 and 101. Motorists who wish to avotd the heaviest period r-; convoy movement should arrange their schedules to avoid travel between midnight Saturday and noon Sunday on Highways [>!>, 01 and 101. Major Gen. Homgr 0. ISatou Jr., division commander, said the training emphasis this; year will be on more efficient use and maintenance of the division's wide assortment uf weapons and vehicles. Approximately 1,000 members; of the division will train at Camp Irwin, the Army's Armored' Combat Training Center. The return movement from Camp Roberts and Camp Irwin will start Saturday Aug. 2\ and end the next day.
