Graves aquires other truck lines
- 1 1 a - - 1 is Graves acquires two other lines Graves Truck Line, Inc. of Salina, has announced the purchase of two motor carriers, Luper Transportation of Wichita and Thomas Cartage, Inc. of Amarillo, Texas. On April 11, 1975 Graves Truck Line entered into a contract to purchase all of the outstanding stock of Luper Transportation which was in - : corporated in 1932. Luper engages in the transportation of perishable truck load traffic between Wichita and Arkansas City and Oklahoma, Texas, New Mexico, Arkansas, Arizona, Louisiana and southern Missouri. In 1974 Luper had revenues totaling $1,854,077. Graves is currently in the process of requesting the orders of the Interstate Commerce Commission which will authorize temporary control and management of Luper. Plans are to operate Luper Transportation as a wholly owned subsidiary. Graves currently operates its Jayhawk Division which transports perishable commodities commodities in truck load lots and had 1974 fiscal revenues of $2,248,867. It is felt by Graves Truck Line that the purchase of Luper will complement and enhance the operations of their existing perishable commodities commodities operation. On April 12, 1975 Graves entered into a contract to purchase all of the stock of Thomas Cartage, Inc. Thomas is a general commodities motor carrier that serves 23 cities and towns in northwest Texas and the Oklahoma panhandle, service provided to these 23 cities comes from terminals located in Amarillo, Dumas, and Dalhart, Texas. In 1974 the revenues of Thomas were $1,011,142. Graves will immediately immediately seek an order of the Interstate Commerce Commission Commission that will sanction this purchase, and plans to obtain authorization to merge the Thomas operation into that of Graves. Graves management feels that the addition of Thomas Cartage will give Graves a direct gateway into the southwest southwest United States. This is the third purchase by Graves within, the last six months. In November of 1975, Graves entered into an agreement to acquire the outstanding stock of Capitol Truck Lines, Inc. Graves has been operating Capitol since that period.
