Schedule Halloween Parlies at All Valley Playgrounds Continued from PHK« One orange of Halloween, and the fun will continue until a Jalc hour, George Hjelte, general manager o£ the department, reports that the playground carnival program, initiated 30 years ago, has succeeded (n transforming Halloween' night from one of vandalism and property destruction to an occasion of wholesome fun for every member of the family. Here are the details on the events at Valley playgrounds: ENOINO Ventura Blvd. Chilrtrens party, Oct. 25, 3:30 p.m.; "A Terrible Frteht," Oct. 25, 3:30 p.m.; "O-O and OO-OO," Oct. 25, 3:30 p.m.; "Jack-'o-Lanlern Blew Out," Oct. 25, 3:30 p.m.; Pre-school childrcns party, Oct. 27, 9:30 a.m.; Carnival, Oct 30, 7:13 p.m. Activities scheduled throughout Saturday evening include carnival games at g a i l y decorated booths, variety acts and contests on an outdoor s t a g e , cartoon movies held in the "Barn, "-caricature drawings, and many door prizes including an aluminum chaise lounge, A brass fireplace Jog holder, twelve brass trivets, 25 photo portraits, men's sport jacket, and others donated by l o c a l merchants , interested in their community. The carnival planning committee includes representatives from groups meeting on the playground and leading community organizations: Encino American Legion Post 582, Encino 4-H Club boys and girls, Boy and Girl Scout Troops, Co-op Nursery, adult art class, children's rhythm class, girls' dance c l a s s , and many olhers, At a planning meeting, the following chairmen were appointed: Finance, Wm. Golden and George O'Brien, food; cashiers, Mrs, G. McAvoy and Mrs. Max Aron; movies, Mr. and Mrs. Alan Stensvold; donations and door prizes, Edward Strasser; games, Stuart Harper, Miss Bonnie Hoerner and : Mrs. Earl Parton. Final planning meeting will be held on Wednesday at 7 p.m. at the playground. All those interested in helping make this Halloween Carnival a big success for the community are invited to come to the meeting or contact the staff, said Mrs, Eleanor Johnton, recreation director.
