Pfc. Lauretta Thomson, Rye, Receives Trophy At Sports Banquet In Texas PFC. LAURETTA THOMSON AND COL. GEORGE B. DANY At a postwide sports banquet given for approximately 1,000 WACs, enlisted men and AAF officers at the post Service Club, Hondo, Texas, WAC Pfc. Lauretta (Tommy)- Thomson represented the Hondo WAG Detachment as the post commander, Col. George B. Dany, presented trophies to the WAC athletes. Shown with Col. Dany inspecting one of the many silver trophies awarded during the evening, Miss Thomson, acting captain of the WAC softball team, received tiny silver softball medallions for each of her teammates. She is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Kent C. Thomson, 667 Forest Avenue, Rye. She played second base for the team, and now is an active member of the WAC bowling team at Hondo, as well' as a forward on the WAC basketball team. A secretary before joining the WAC, Miss Thomson is an assistant dental technician at the navigation airbase. Pfc. Thomson played with the "Rye Colleens* in 1939, a girls' softball club which went to Rochester in state championship tournathat year. She was inducted into the WAC May 6, 1943, received ment, basic training at Monticello, Ark., and has been on duty at Hondo Field, Texas, since, June 11, Pfc. Thomson has a sister in. the Army Nurse Corps. She is 2nd Lieut. Evelyn Thomson, on duty at General Harmon Hospital, Longview, Texas.
