Lt. John E. Reese Receives Air Medal 15th AAF in ItalySecond Lt. John E. Reese, 21 son of Mr. and Mrs. Earl E. Reese, of 17 Hazel- tine Street, Shavertown, has been awarded the Air Medal for "Meritorious achievement in aerial flight while participating in sustained operational activities against the enemy." Lt. Reese, a co-pilot on an AAF B-17 Flying Fortress, Is with the. 15th AAF. A graduate of Kingston Township High School, he was employed by the Vulcan Iron Works Com pany, Wilkes-Barre, before entering the Army on February 2. 1943. receiving his commission and wings at Maxwell Jtieid, Alabama, on March 12. 1944. He left for over. seas duty, September 8, and flew his first mission on uctooer 12, when his fortress squadron attacked a bivouac area of the Ger man Army near Bologna, Italy. His wife. Mrs. Dorothy D. Reese, Is making her home with Lt. Reese's parents.
