The movement of undesirable elements of the population to buildings in the new Chinatown is said to be having a curious effect on affairs ill that part . and it is hinted may even lead to an almost complete evacuation of that part of the city by the Chinese. This w said to be the reason actuating Chinese capitalists, who. it is said, have laid plans for the purrhase of a large trnct in another part of the city, with the intention of moving practically the whole population of Chinatown ,to the new quarter. (ireat secrecy has marked all the movements of those directly concerned, but a persistent rumor has gained currency currency in Chinatown and in certain real estate quarters and there would seem to be little doubt that some plan of the sort is in the wind. A couple of prominent Chinese merchant interviewed by The World were non - committal, hut did not deny that they had heard of plans for the new Chinatown.
