At the urgent importunities of Fhiladclphians who are summer residents here, the Philadelphia Philadelphia contracting firm of Thomas Meehan & Sons has agreed to drop its case against the Ocean county Freeholders, Freeholders, who rejected the Meehans' bid for building the beach road, and accepted the bid of Charles Mathis of Tuckerton, at a raise of $2O00 over the Meehan bid. To have attacked the contract in court, as the Meehan firm intended to do, would presumably have resulted in the contract being set aside, and the beach road would not have been built this year. It was for this reason that a number of cottagers and property owners owners here persuaded the Philadelphia contractors contractors to abandon their proposed suit, as Sea Side Park is extremely anxious to get the road done. The county's law officers admit that the Meehans could have set aside the Mathis contract had the suit been forced to an issue.
