a thru- ONE MAN DEAD, 3 ARE INJURED IN AUTO CRASI College Hill Trolley Hits a Motor on E. Douglas. One man was killed and three in jured, two perhaps fatally, when their motor car was struck by a westbound College Hill street car in the twenty-sixth block on East Douglas Avenue at noon today. The Dead: - C. G. Tice, 50, Taintor, Iowa. The Injured: Emby Shepherd, contractor, 202 North Estelle Avenue, may die. J. W. Evans, about 05, Taintor, Iowa, may die. Delmar Evans, 45, Taintor, Iowa, slightly hurt. The men had been visiting the Shepherds sinch a week ago Friday, having driven from Taintor, Iowa, J. W. Evans is the father of Mrs. Shep herd. Mr. Tice was an old friend of the family. Mrs. Tice is iu Wichita. Mrs. Del-mar Evans and son Clare and daughter, Mrs. Gladys Northcutt and Mr. Northcutt also are here. All accom panied Evans on the motor trip from Taintor to Wichita. Didn't See the Car. They were returning from Valley Center in a Dodge touring car. Del-mar Evans was driving. When the Dodge neared Estelle Avenue, an east- bound street car was stopped at the corner. Evans drove along the south side of it and turned across its path into Estelle Avenue. The eastlioiiud car had obscured his view of the street ahead and he failed to see a westhround car, which struck the auto broadside. Hurled Against Tree. The onto was hurled against the curb and a tree ut the northwest cor ner of the Intersection. The four men were thrown out and all except IXi-mar Evans was unconscious. They were bleeding profusely from cuts caused by windshield glass. One witness said the street car was travelng at a rapid rate. Another man estimated it was going thirty miles an hour. Delmar Evans, who -was driving the car, was not injured severely, it was suid at the Shepherd home, where lie was taken after the accident. He had a gash on the back of his head and was somewhat bruised. He is about 45 years old. Virgil Garringer was the motor- man on the car which struck the Ev ans automobile.
