| Roller Derby Debuts In SF Tomorrow Roller Derby, absent from San Francisco since 1952, opens an extended extended Friday - Saturday-Sunday engagement tomorrow night at the huge Cow Palace. Games are scheduled Friday and Saturday evenings at 8:30, and Sunday afternoons afternoons at 2:30. The local debut of a new bay area team, the Bay Bombers, also marks the introduction of the bay area into the nation-wide National Roller Derby League. During the first three weeks of the league, the local team will meet the Brooklyn Red Devils, one of the nation’s top Roller Derby teams. Leading the Brooklyn team is Midge “Toughie” Brasuhn, voted one of 1951’s “ten outstanding women women athletes.” The local team will be spearheaded spearheaded by Ann Calvello of San Francisco, Annis Jensen of Redwood Redwood City, Miffie Mifsud of San Bruno, Bill Reynolds and Russ Baker, both of Redwood City The teams will compete on the banked track—at one point it is banked at 42 degrees. The mason ite track measures 18 laps to the mile.
