ASSESSOR TRIES TO CLEAR UP WEST-POINT TAX TANGLE C. G. Armagost, assessor of West Point township, was in Preeport today and called on State's Attorney Green to see what steps could be taken to refund the excess taxes tc the tax payers of his township; Ho says that there are plose to .100 taxpayers in West Point; township wh.i in giving him their assessment gave the amounts they had on deposit in the banks, and the amounts which should be refunded run all the way from Ten dollars~to close to two hundred. Mr. Armagost dfd his first assessing last spring, and when it come to assessing money in- the banks, he took the " GO per cent figure the same as the rest of the assessors, hut neglected to cut this in half in making the assessment, sc he assessed on the sixty per cetit basis instead of on the thirty per cent basis, ho says. .- x
