Mikado was assassinated in Yeddo. Military Items. Tbe following orders were issued June 20, from Headquarteia Fifth Military District : Leave of absence for twenty days is hereby granted to 2d Lieut. Charles King, Jr., 1st Artillery. Pursuant to instructions, by telegraph, from the General Commanding the Army, of June 29, 1808, leave of absence for sixty days is hereby granted to 2d Lteut Allen Smith, 1st Infantry. ' - 1st Lieut A. H. M. Taylor, 17th Infantry, will take charge of tweuty - one recruit for the 4th and 9th Cavalry, en route to their regiments in Texas, and turn them over to the Commanding General, District of Texas, ' at Austin, to be forwarded to their proper stations.
